How Do Any of Us Get Into the Things We Get Into

Its easy to find ourselves trapped in the very thing that we went toward drooling, as in cat after milk.  I have fallen into many things, seeing through bottle thick imaginings and falling towards an illusionary thing I though I craved.

In Mansuetude, this is my Tumbleword: Be gentle on yourself.  We all do the unseen stupid things.  We all feel dumb and trapped in there sometimes, wanting out.  Be patient, it always works out.  Maybe not the way we want, but in the end something comes along, even if it takes a snickering mouse to get us out of our jam.  We do get out.  We are not born to be caged or hung out to dry like someone else’s laundered money.  We are not made to be used, we are given the power of our dreams.

Think about it, imagine the sheer beauty of just seeing; stunned again by the way the eye works, how it collects color, texture, tone.  Imagine the voice box, wake up and recall being stunned that yes, we can sing–even if badly.  Sing. Imagine the hand again.  Look at its beauty, its grip, its power, its tenderness.  The foot, how it holds us up, walking, the sheer joy of dancing.  Taste. Put something new on your tongue, don’t gulp food, taste it with the light and the thought of what watered it, what time it took to form itself.  Honor it.  Dwell on your powers of hearing.  Its amazing and Wonderful to enjoy the pleasure of being.

Enjoy the gift!  Just re-member your child heart to life.  Re member the body to the miracle.  Celebrate and stitch a new strong thread (thought) connection between the wonder of all this: world, self, water, light and the stunning joy that you are in it, alive to it, and capable of changing it.  Born to, willing to create.

In Mansuetude: A reminder

Your beautiful, beautiful hands– what are you doing with your beautiful beautiful hands right now?

Open them,

                      honor them, remember the power

in them to touch, to create, to plant, to direct the music

of your life…. look at each fingertip, each line, the front and the inside warm palm.  Like the use of your words

your voice, your love…. your education, what are you doing with your beautiful beautiful hands.

Light a candle with them, splash water, use them to teach a child to count, wash dishes, write, paint a mural, dip them in peanut butter and ask a lover to taste, cover them in cool thick cream, touch the doorknob of your delight, open them to rain, feel the glass of milk, or the cold beer, ruffle the hair of a child, tickle someone too serious… just take a moment to pick up a peach, carry it to your face, inhale, this is your hand… its capacity to hold to make things, to sense the weight, the temperature, the sensuality of… anything…. your hand is a miracle, treat it like a gentle child

and touch the world with it, counsciously aware of its capacity to be strong, bold, loving, delicate, capable of surgery, of swinging an axe at the frozen sea around your life, of doing almost anything.  Do it with Mansuetude– in the most powerful use of that word, in grace, and in full direct awareness that there is nothing else in this instant that your hand wants to do in this moment right now,

with its life.  Your life.  The life we all, as dwellers on one planet find ourselves part of… know.  The way you use your hand and its energy waves will be part of the large world of energy flowing out and in toward you, and those around you.  What are you doing with your hand right now?  Honor its grace.
